My Journey to Reiki
For over 15 years, I worked as a wardrobe stylist and Costume Designer for film, tv, and commercials. It was fun, creative, and rewarding for a while. Once I had a family though, the long hours, travel, and sleep deprivation took a toll on my health, and well being. My autoimmune system was compromised. I developed Hashimotos, I felt like I was just falling apart. I found myself moody, irritable, achy, and just simply not feeling myself.
While on location in Utah filming a movie, I became easily overwhelmed by tasks that were fairly normal, and simple to achieve. Everything got to me, and I truly was not myself. On my one day off on the film, I went for a hike in the beautiful Guardsman Pass mountains of Park City, Utah. It was so beautiful, and quiet. Normally, a moment in nature would calm my spirit, and put the pieces back together, but it wasn't doing that on this day. However, I did hear a little voice that said "go get Reiki."
Later that day, I went back down to Salt Lake, found a Reiki practitioner (thank you Yelp), and had the most glorious experience. During the session, I passed out and had the best 45 minutes of sleep in forever! But what really happened when I opened my eyes, was a return to myself. I could breathe again, and the inner panic was gone. I was relaxed, and found a truly deep calm, and a reconnection to my soul. It was so magical, that I visited again a couple of days later.
After that session, I knew I needed more Reiki in my life. And I knew I wanted AND needed to learn how to be able to do the same thing so I could help others feel good. Isn't that what we all want - to feel good? Reiki has done that for me, I am healthy, happy, and I feel good. And for that, I am extremely grateful, and have chosen to study and learn everything there is to know about Reiki. What I have discovered, is that Reiki is meant to be shared, and we're all meant to feel good. All good things.
